What Is the Nissan Intelligent Key System?
Nissan's name for their proximity/push-to-start key system. The Intelligent Key fob stays in your pocket or bag. When you approach the car, door-mounted antennas detect the fob via 125 kHz signal. The doors unlock. Inside the car, a cabin antenna detects the fob's presence. Press the brake and push the start button. Engine fires.
The system also includes remote functions on the fob itself: lock, unlock, trunk release, and panic. These operate on 315 MHz and work from up to 50 feet away. The Intelligent Key stores up to 4 registered fobs per vehicle.
